Most of us have four or five inboxes: work mail, private mail, iMessage, WhatsApp and maybe Signal. Each one has its own badge, and each one asks to be checked. A unified inbox app solves part of it, but you still read everything yourself, all day long.
A digest turns that around: everything new is gathered, sorted and summarised, and you look a few times a day.
What one digest looks like
With Axella, each digest starts with one line that tells you whether you need to act, for example "Nothing urgent. Two replies ready for your approval." Below it, every stream is sorted together:
- Urgent – now: only what you have defined as urgent, such as a person, a keyword or a deadline.
- Before noon and By end of day: the things that need an answer, each with a short note and a drafted reply.
- FYI: the family group's 14 messages about Sunday lunch, summed up in one line.
- Calendar, Waiting on others and Filing: today's meetings and clashes, the replies you're still waiting for, and receipts ready to move.
You can read it, or listen to it on the way to work.
Where each stream comes from
Axella runs on a Mac at home and reads what's already there:
- Email: through Apple Mail, with any account you add there (iCloud, Gmail, Microsoft 365, Outlook.com and others). You can keep using Outlook or another mail app on your other devices.
- iMessage and SMS: from Messages on the Mac.
- WhatsApp: from WhatsApp Desktop on the same Mac.
- Signal (optional, receive only) and calendar.
Answering from the digest
- Mail: edit the draft and tap Send. It goes out from your own account, with a few seconds to undo.
- WhatsApp and Messages: Axella opens the chat with the reply ready, and you send it there.
- Everything else: Done, Later, Move to a folder or Add as task.
Nothing is sent without your tap.
Work and private, each in its own place
Axella knows which world a message belongs to, and a switch shows All, Work or Private. Next on the roadmap: each scheduled digest covering work, private or both, so an evening digest can hold work until the morning while anything urgent still comes through. The demo already shows how that works.
Want to see it before you set anything up? Try the demo with example data. When you're ready, the setup guide takes about an hour.
